Language School Pombal. Pombalingua was founded in 1984 to provide effective and comprehensive English language and culture courses to both children and adults. Over the years Pombalingua has carefully raised its standards to a level of competence that is respected and highly recommended. Pombalingua is not only authorised by the Portuguese Ministry of Education but is also well known for offering a very solid educational service and for successfully preparing most of its students for the internationally recognised University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations. Many hours are spent on extensive preparation and Pombalingua's courses are designed for logical step-by-step learning. COURSES

Academic

The Pre-Primary course is a highly motivating course specially designed for young learners. Through the adventures of a lively group of characters and their mischievous genie, the pupils have the opportunity to experience the English language and culture in an effective and appealing way.

Primary 1 and Primary 2 are early primary courses. A world of fun and adventure is created for young learners. These courses promote listening and speaking whilst leading children gently into practising all four skills through pre-reading and pre-writing activities.

Primary 2 provides practice in all four skills, progressing to more demanding tasks designed to fully equip young learners with the ability to communicate in English.

The Level 1 to Level 8 courses are specifically designed for students from absolute beginner/false beginner to proficiency level. Each course provides systematic preparation in all language skills.

    These practical courses bridge the gap between general English and the professional world of working adults. The syllabi are based on the needs of people in work who use English as an international means of communication. Key features Grammar presented through authentic international contexts, for students to analyse and formulate the rules. Focus on English for socializing, telephoning, and participating in discussions, enabling learners to communicate confidently in work-related situations.     Intensives

    Pombalíngua offers four-week intensive courses which take place in July of every year. These are best suited for those who find it difficult to be available throughout the school year.
