In September of 1984, Mr Robert Carter, with the support and help of the then Mayor of Pombal, Mr Guilherme Santos, opened Pombalingua in a room over the Sanduba II café and restaurant (formerly Café Fogaça) in Rua Alexandre Herculano in Pombal. After just one year and due to the sustained growth of Pombalingua, it became necessary to move to larger premises. It was in 1985 that Pombalingua moved to premises located in the city centre; in Rua 1º de Maio. Almost twenty years later, in 2004, and following a great number of requests, an opportunity arose to open Pombalingua’s very first branch, located in Ansião. It was also the opportunity to pilot test a Business English Course as well as a Pre-primary Course. Both proved extremely successful and preceded what are currently Pombalingua’s Business English and Primary courses. In July of 2006, the manager since 2000, Mr Paul Araújo, took over the school and has since then been the school’s Headmaster and Director. Once more and due to an ever-increasing number of students, it became necessary to find and move to larger premises. In September of 2007, Pombalingua inaugurated its new school. Located in the heart of Pombal, Pombalingua is now proud to receive its students in a modern, spacious and attractive school with three floors located in Rua de Ansião. Owing to the need to provide our students with a more spacious and more modern school, Pombalingua moved to larger premises in August of 2019 located in the main artery of Pombal: Avenida Heróis do Ultramar.
